People who follow fasting for 8 or 9 days during Navratra need lots of self-control and energy. Today I am sharing an easy snack that can be consumed during vrat without any fuss. Crispy and super light banana chips/ wafers are very good tea time snacks. You can make as many as you can and can store in an airtight container for further use. I generally use turmeric powder while soaking banana slice in water for bright color, but as I am making these chips for Navratra fasting so I am skipping turmeric.
Banana chips are my favorite tea time snacks and I always prefer serving homemade snacks compared to market one for my son while he enjoys his favorite cartoon on TV.

Ingredients for making Vrat Special Raw Banana Chips
Raw banana – 250 grams (4 approx)
Oil/ ghee – for frying
Rock salt (sainda namak) – according to taste
Water – for soaking raw banana
Method for making Vrat Special Raw Banana Chips
Step 1: Peel the banana and slice with the help of chips maker or normal knife.
Step 2: Take water in a large bowl and add banana pieces into it for 3 -4 minute and then strain the water and spread the banana slice on a dry cotton cloth to make it dry completely.
Step 3: Heat frying oil in a wok or frying pan on medium flame. When oil is ready for frying, drop some bananas slice in oil. Keep stirring with the help of frying spoon so that banana chips could not stick to each other. Once the bubbles from oil start disappearing, chips will be turned light golden brown.
Step 4: Place kitchen napkin or tissue paper on a plate. Now drain oil from chips and bring out the banana chips from oil to plate.
Step 5: Repeat the process for rest of the banana chips too. Let the chips cool completely and then store the super crispy and tasty banana chips in an airtight container.
You can enjoy crisp and light banana wafers any time anywhere. Just sprinkle some salt and Chaat masala before serving and enjoy healthy tea time snacks with family and friends. Skip Chaat masala and regular salt during fasting and add sandha namak.

- As soon as you slice banana transfer it to water otherwise it will turn black in color.
- You can make banana chips in microwave too without using too much oil.
- If, you are making banana chips for fasting / vrat sprinkle rock salt or sandha namak just after you bring out chips from oil.
- Try to slice banana as thin as possible for the best results.
