I literally craved for some paneer tikka last Friday and it was 11 at night. I checked my fridge and there was no capsicum & no tomato. It was a big mood off situation for me. Still, I did not give up. I bring out some curd (no hung curd) some spices, basil leaves and off course my paneer. It took 15-20 minutes in marination and then 15 minutes for cooking my super yummy and tempting tawa paneer. The fresh fragrance of paneer tikka was filled in my kitchen…. Felt satisfied…and it shows that I am a foodie. I think you people will surely like this basil paneer recipe and will definitely try in your kitchen.
Paneer tikka, shahi paneer and paneer butter masala are famous paneer recipes but today’s basil tawa paneer dry is unique by all. The best thing about this tawa paneer is so easy and quick. I kept my tikka recipe simple with basic few spices.
I made this paneer recipe in flat pan (tawa). You can make it in kadai / wok too, it totally depends on your convenience. I have used very less almost 1 tablespoon oil in this paneer recipe. This recipe is a no onion no garlic paneer recipe.
Ingredients for making Basil flavored Tawa paneer dry recipe
Paneer – 150 Grams
Curd (Dahi) – 1 Cup
Turmeric powder- ½ Tea Spoon
Coriander Powder – 1 tea spoon
Salt – according to taste
Garam masala – 1 tea spoon
Red chilli powder – ½ Tea Spoon
Oil – 1 table spoon
Basil leaves – 5
Cumin seed (jeera) – ½ tea spoon
Black pepper – ¼ tea spoon crushed

- Cut paneer in medium size cubic pieces.
- Take curd in a mixing bowl and add all the spices, beat well.
- Add paneer cubes to curd batter and stir well so that the batter coats well on paneer. Keep it aside for 15-20 minutes.
Method for making Basil flavored Tawa paneer dry recipe
Step 1: In a flat pan or tawa heat oil. Add cumin seed and crushed pepper. Fry for ½ minute.
Step 2: Now add marinated paneer along with the curd mixture and chopped basil leaves. Cook on simmer gas flame without lid.
Step 3: Keep turning paneer upside down after every 3 -4 minute. You will notice that the liquid will start reducing and after approx 10 minutes it will be completely evaporate.
Step 4: Now cook for next 5 more minutes as this will give a crunchy and grilled flavor to the paneer cubes.
Turn the gas off and serve your favorite tawa paneer tikka or dry paneer snacks. Enjoy it any time any where.

- Check curd taste before adding, it should be not sour otherwise it will ruin the taste.
