I am a big fan of green peas and love to enjoy it, especially when it is available at a very low cost in the market. I love to store fresh peas in my fridge so that I can enjoy it for the rest of the year at the same low price….smart na.
Today I am presenting you a very easy and low oil tikki recipe. The combination of potato and green peas are ultimate. I have shared aloo matar restaurant style and tehri recipes. This aloo matar tikki can be served at breakfast or as evening snacks. The best thing I like about this simple tikki recipe is the low oil consumed in the cooking process.
Ingredients for making Aloo Matar Tikki Recipe
Potato – 5 medium sizes
Green pea – 1 cup peeled
Chat masala – 1 Table spoon
Salt – according to taste
Roasted cumin powder (bhuna jeera powder) – ½ tea spoon
Corn flour – 1 table spoon
Basic preparation of making Aloo Matar Tikki Recipe
- Boil potato and green pea for 2 whistles on medium gas flame or boil until potato cooked properly.
- In a mixing bowl take peeled potato, boiled green peas and mash well using a hand masher.
- Now add dry mango powder, salt, cumin powder and chat masala and mix well.
Method of making Aloo Matar Tikki Recipe
Step 1: Now divide this potato green pea mixture into medium size lemon shape balls.
Step 2: Pick a mixture ball and flatten it little by tapping with your palm and fingers. Give a thick disk like shape. Make the entire mixture disk same way.
Step 3: Now put a non stick flat pan or tawa on gas. Keep the gas flame on medium mode and sprinkle few drops of oil on it. Now put the mixture disk (tikki disk) on tawa and cook from both the sides. Add a few more drops of oil and cook until becoming little crispy and dark brown from both the sides. You can sauté 4 – 6 Tikki at a time, according to the pan capacity. Bring it out the crispy Tikki from gas.
Aloo Matar Tikki’s are ready to serve. Serve it hot with tomato ketchup and some spicy chutney. You can add sliced onion and tamarind chutney too.
Few useful tips for making Aloo Matar Tikki Recipe
- Do not over cooked potato and green pea otherwise it will become over moist.
- You can add little extra oil as per your requirement.
- You can mash the ingredients by using a large size spoon too.
- Add a few drops of lemon juice if chat masala is not available.
