Milk Peda Recipe – step by step presentation of traditional Milk Peda recipe using homemade mava. Doodh Peda is a very popular Mathura, Uttar Pradesh sweet recipe.
Traditionally Peda is made of Khoya / Mava or paneer. That is why people prefer having milk peda during fasting / vrat. Today I am showing you the recipe from starting which include making of mava at home. Making mava / khoya at home is a bit long and tiring process, but finally you will get fresh and original khoya. I always make Khoya at home for fasting / vrat special dishes.
Ingredients for Milk Peda Recipe
Milk – 1 Kg
Sugar – ½ Cup
Cardamom Powder – ¼ Tea Spoon
Milk Powder – 2 Table Spoon
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Yield: 15 – 18
Basic preparation of Milk Peda Recipe
- Heat oil in a heavy base kadai / pan initially on full gas flame. Stir in between so that milk will not come out of the pan.
- After 10 minutes, simmer the gas flame and keep stirring so that milk will not burn from the base.
Method of making Milk Peda Recipe
Step 1: After 10 of cooking Milk will start getting thicker, almost ¼ of basic quantity then add sugar, milk powder and keep stirring.
Step 2: Cook until mixture becomes a thick mava like consistency with no milk left in it. Add cardamom powder, mix well and turn the gas off and let it cool at room temperature.
Step 3: Now mix it well using a spoon until becomes smooth in texture.
Step 4: Divide almost equal portion of the mixture using a small spoon. Now take a portion and give a round shape using fingertips and then press in the center by thumb to give a disk like shape. Make all the Milk Peda same way.
Step 5: Keep all the milk peda on a tray or plate and let it cool completely.
Milk Peda is ready to serve. You can enjoy milk peda at any season or any occasion. Keep it in an airtight container for further use. Peda can last for almost a week’s time, but trust me, you and your family will finish doodh peda in less than 2 days.
