Today’s recipe is a simple and unique in taste, Baby Potato Fry recipe. We mostly use potato in our cooking, sometime as a main ingredient and otherwise as a side ingredient. In this Potato Fry recipe, small potato is the main ingredient and we are using very few basic spices to complement it.
Here I have used refined oil and small sized potato for this Potato recipe. You can make the same recipe with normal sized potato too. I generally cook this potato recipe for lunch with dal, rice and roti on weekends.

Basic ingredients for Baby Potato Fry Recipe
Baby Potato – 250 grams
Onion – 1
Cumin seed – ½ Tea Spoon
Mustard seed – ½ Tea Spoon
Asafetida – just a pinch
Coriander powder – 1 Table Spoon
Turmeric powder – ½ Tea spoon
Red Chilli powder – ½ Tea spoon
Dry Mango powder – 1 Tea spoon
Salt – according to taste
Oil – 3 Table spoon
Basic preparation of Baby Potato Fry Recipe
- Boil potato and let them cool completely.
- Peel boiled potato and finely chop onion.
Method of making Baby Potato Fry Recipe
Step 1: In frying pan, heat oil. Now add asafetida, cumin seed and mustard seeds and fry until seeds starts crackling.
Step 2: Add chopped onion and saute until turns bit crispy. Now add all the dry spices, including salt and fry for ½ minute to simmer gas flame.
Step 3: Now add boiled baby potato and stir well so that potato properly get coated with the spice paste. Cook it for next 4 minutes on simmer gas flame and then turn the gas off.
Potato Fry is ready to serve. Garnish it with some fresh chopped coriander leaves or green chilli and enjoy it with your favorite dish. You can enjoy this Baby Potato Fry as snacks too with coriander and tomato chutney.
Few useful tips for Baby Potato Fry recipe
- Make sure you choose same sized potato for this recipe. Otherwise, it will look bad.
- Potato must not be sweet in taste and boiled properly.
- You can cook this Potato Fry recipe with normal size potato too. In that case boil potato and cut them in equal size and then follow the rest of process same way.
