I have used Jaggery in place of sugar. Jaggery is a healthy substitute of sugar. Ragi Biscuit is very tasty and light for the stomach. This is a Sugarless, Eggless Ragi Biscuit recipe.
I have used fewer ingredients for Ragi Biscuit Recipe (Finger Millet Biscuit). You will require finger millet flour, wheat flour, jaggery, ghee, milk and baking powder to make Ragi Biscuits.

Ingredients for Ragi Biscuit / Finger Millet Biscuit
Ragi Flour (Finger Millet) – 1 cup
Wheat flour (Aata) – ½ cup
Jaggery (Gur) – ¼ cup
Ghee / Oil – ¼ cup
Milk – ½ cup
Baking Powder – 1 Table Spoon
Basic preparation for Ragi Biscuit / Finger Millet Biscuit
- In a large mixing plate or bowl take the flour (Ragi Flour & Wheat Flour) and baking soda. Mix well all the ingredients.
- Grate Jaggery finely.
- Preheat oven @ 180 degree centigrade.
- Grease a baking tray with oil.
Method of making Ragi Biscuit / Finger Millet Biscuit
Step 1: Add grated jaggery and flour (Ragi Flour & Wheat Flour) and mix well using your fingertips.
Step 2: Add Ghee and mix it well. Rub all the mixture from your fingertips for at least for 10 minutes.
Step 3: Add chilled milk little at a time and knead dough.
Step 4: Now roll this dough approx ¼ inch thickness with the help of rolling pin. Now cut this sheet with the cookie cutter or small jar cap.
Step 5: Now transfer these biscuits on baking tray and bake for 15 – 18 minute. I baked these Ragi Biscuit in two lots. My first lot got ready in 18 minutes and the next in 16 minutes.
Bring it out from oven and let it cool completely at room temperature. Ragi Biscuit will get crunchy after cooling. Ragi Biscuit is ready. Enjoy it with a hot cup of coffee or tea.
Few useful tips for Ragi Biscuit
- You can use butter / oil instead of ghee for making this Ragi biscuit recipe.
- I had given a spiral impression on top of biscuits with the help of spiral beater.
- You can add sugar instead of jaggary.
